Repair Damaged Turf in 5 steps

However durable and expensive your turf is, it’s still inevitably damaged at some times. Major causes for damaged turf might include but not limit to:

• Some pieces of cardboard
• Turf seaming tape
• Turf leftovers from installation. Obviously, using leftovers from the original installation would make sure that the grass you’re replacing will blend in perfectly with the rest. Step 1: Get the damaged section removed
Use a piece of cardboard as a guide to cut out the damaged spot – make sure that you cut it deep enough, instead of the fibres only. The tip is to detect straight lines and linear patterns first so that it’d be easier to match new turf with the surroundings. If you fit in a rectangular or square piece of new turf, the seams might be visible. So instead, try curved shapes, since the seams will flow naturally in the surroundings, and no one can tell you’ve done replacing.

Step 2: Prepare the replacement piece of turf
Use the cardboard as a template to cut the same shape out of the leftover or new turf.

Step 3: Apply the seaming tape
Place a piece of seaming tape under the backing through the hole where you cut out the damaged turf, then spread out artificial grass adhesive on the tape and beneath the backing.

Step 4: Fit in the replacement turf
Gently fit the replacement piece in the right place and press down to make a strong bond. Remember to mind the direction of the turf’s yarns in the backing to make sure that they face the same way as the rest.

Step 5: Let it dry
Try not to walk on that freshly repaired turf while letting the adhesives dry for at least a few hours. The best is to let it rest and dry for 24 hours to ensure that the adhesives are completely dry and do their work.
